The Swiss standard SN SEV 1011:2009 type 12 is rated at 10A. It is similar to the Brazilian type N but is not compatible as the earth pin is set at a different position.

This is the most commoly used socket in Europe. It is often called a Schuko® socket.This is an acronym of the German words Schutz-Kontact (protective contact). The term is reigistered and is administered by the SCHUKO Trademark Association. The socket is rated at 250V, 16A

Since the 01.01.2016 according to the ESTI Standard SN SEV 1011:2009/A1:2012 it is not permitted to import mains adapters into Switzerland that do not comply with following regulations:

1. Retention of protection class
2. Overcurrent protection
3. Restriction of time of use to 1 hour under full load
4. No single pole plug-in
5. No Stacking
